This exciting course is offered WITHOUT CHARGE to St. Louis metropolitan area high schools by Abbott EMS of Missouri and Illinois.
- For high school seniors who are not college bound, this course will introduce them to Emergency Medical Services. This is a flourishing, fulfilling career in which the student can realistically plan to be certified and employed as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) in less than six-months from high school graduation. (Advanced training to Paramedic (EMT-P) can then be completed in less than 14 months.)
- The field of emergency medical services is growing fast. There is a nation- wide shortage of EMTs and Paramedics. We hope this course will help more bright young high school seniors consider this valuable career.
- Students interested in the field of medicine at any level, including nurse or physician, will gain hands-on, real world knowledge and experience from professionals already in the field.
What's the Catch? There isnít one. We are proud to offer the course without cost or catch in the hope that we can attract bright, committed students to a career field that is growing fast and experiencing nation-wide shortages.
Programs are currently being presented to seniors from Northwest High School and Clyde C. Miller Academy, as well as Maplewood-Richmond Heights, Hancock and St. Mary's High Schools.
